BEFORE YOU INSTALL

Check the source.
Keep a backup.

  1. 01
    Start from an official channel

Use the PhotoCraft product website or the official GitHub Releases page. Avoid repackaged downloads and unrelated “download” advertisements.

  2. 02
    Read the selected release

Confirm the operating system, architecture, package name, and any known issues. A guide’s reference version is not a guarantee that it is still the latest.

  3. 03
    Make a safe first test

Keep operating-system protections enabled. Start with a duplicate image, save to a new file, and check both the image and editable layers.

Package link verification.

The three direct links above are the v0.7.0 Standalone package targets published on the official PhotoCraft product page, reviewed October 12, 2026. They point to the publisher’s GitHub assets, not repackaged files. We have not downloaded, installed, or independently tested these binaries.

If a versioned link returns an error or you need another architecture or format, use official GitHub Releases ↗ and inspect that release’s Assets. Do not guess filenames or use an unrelated mirror. Check package checksums or signatures against publisher instructions when supplied.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you begin.

Practical answers. Clear boundaries.

Why are there no installer files on this website?

Keeping downloads on project-owned channels reduces confusion about where a package came from and helps you find the current release notes. We do not mirror, modify, or bundle installers.

Should I bypass a system security warning?

Do not turn off system security just to run a download. Check the source and official project instructions. If you cannot establish that the package is appropriate, stop and ask the project for guidance.

Where do I report installation problems?

Read the repository’s current instructions and known issues, then use the official issue tracker ↗. Include your operating system, architecture, app version, and steps to reproduce. Remove private data from logs or example files.

INSTALLATION / ALL PLATFORMS

One guide. Three systems.

Windows · macOS · Linux

PHOTOCRAFT / WINDOWS

Install on Windows.

MSI / portable ZIP

  1. 01
    Choose a Windows package

Open the official release and expand Assets. Select a Windows package whose architecture matches your device; confirm the actual filenames and available formats on that release.

  2. 02
    Install or extract

For an MSI, use the installer’s normal prompts. For a portable ZIP, extract the entire archive to its own folder before launching. Keep files from different versions separate.

  3. 03
    Keep protections enabled

If Windows presents a security warning, verify the source and consult official instructions. Do not disable security protections or assume an unknown file is trustworthy.

  4. 04
    Check your first save

Use a copy of a simple image or PSD. Save under a new name, then reopen the file in your normal editor and compare the result.

PHOTOCRAFT / MACOS

Install on macOS.

Universal DMG

  1. 01
    Check the macOS release

Open the official release and find its macOS disk image. Confirm the package’s architecture and minimum system requirements in the current release notes.

  2. 02
    Install from the disk image

Open the DMG and follow its installation instructions, typically copying PhotoCraft to Applications. Launch the installed app from Applications rather than from a temporary download folder.

  3. 03
    Respect security prompts

Keep macOS security protections enabled. If the app cannot be verified or opened, consult the project’s official instructions rather than disabling system-wide protections.

  4. 04
    Test editing and export

Open a duplicated file. Check canvas rendering, menus, fonts, save behavior, and your export. Inspect a saved PSD in the application that will receive it.

PHOTOCRAFT / LINUX

Install on Linux.

AppImage / DEB / RPM

  1. 01
Match the package to your system

Check the release Assets for your CPU architecture and distribution. Package availability can change by release; choose an offered AppImage, DEB, or RPM only where appropriate.

  2. 02
    Use the appropriate installation path

Install DEB or RPM packages with your distribution’s normal package tools. For AppImage, follow the official instructions for execution permissions and required dependencies.

  3. 03
    Check the desktop environment

Confirm that the app launches, the canvas renders correctly, and file dialogs work. Record your distribution and display environment if something goes wrong.

  4. 04
    Validate saving and exchange

Start with a disposable test file. Save and reopen it, then check any PSD / PSB handoff in the receiving application before using it for a real project.
